경기도재향군인회 여성회가 25일 경기도농수산진흥원에서 대규모 김장 나눔 봉사 행사를 펼쳤다. 

이날 행사에는 여성회 임원과 회원, 재향군인회 관계자 등 30여 명의 자원봉사자들이 이른 아침부터 모여 생활이 어려운 국가유공자 70가구를 위한 김장김치 700kg을 직접 담갔다.

자원봉사자들은 배추를 다듬고, 양념을 버무리며, 정성스럽게 김치를 포기하는 과정을 함께했다.

각 가정에 전달될 10kg의 김장김치 한 포기 한 포기에는 국가유공자들의 건강과 안녕을 기원하는 마음이 담겼다.

이번 김장 나눔 행사는 경기도농수산진흥원의 '경기농식품 나눔문화 확산사업' 공모에 선정되며 확보한 보조금 500만 원으로 마련됐다. 

재향군인회의 사회공헌 브랜드 캠페인 '이웃과 함께 Go!Go!Go!(나누고, 가꾸고, 기억하고)'의 실천 활동으로 추진돼 의미를 더했다.

이숙종 여성회장은 "30여 명의 자원봉사자들이 정성을 다해 김장을 담갔다"며 "여성회가 담근 김치가 국가유공자 어르신들께 작은 힘이 되길 바란다"고 말했다. 

이어 "캠페인 취지처럼 나누고·가꾸고·기억하는 활동을 지속해 실질적 지원을 이어가겠다"고 강조했다.

봉사에 참여한 자원봉사자들은 "국가를 위해 헌신하신 분들께 감사의 마음을 전하고 싶었다"며 "직접 손으로 담근 김치가 따뜻한 겨울을 나는 데 도움이 되길 바란다"고 입을 모았다.

강명원 경기도재향군인회장은 "국가유공자의 희생을 기억하고 예우하는 것은 우리 모두의 책무"라며 "앞으로도 나눔 활동을 확대해 따뜻한 공동체 문화를 확산하겠다"고 밝혔다.

경기도재향군인회 여성회는 앞으로도 취약계층 국가유공자와 지역 어르신을 위한 김장 나눔을 비롯한 다양한 복지 봉사 활동을 지속적으로 확대해 나갈 계획이다.

Over 30 volunteers, including women's association executives and members, and veterans association officials, gathered early in the morning to make 700kg of kimchi for 70 families of national meritorious persons facing financial hardship.
